On October 1, the JMA reported that a tropical depression had developed within an area of moderate vertical windshear, about 900 km (560 mi) to the northeast of Hagåtña, Guam.[204][205] Over the next 2 days the system gradually developed further as the low level circulation consolidated and became better defined, before the JTWC initiated advisories and designated the system as Tropical Depression 23W during October 3.[206][207][208] During the next day both the JTWC and the JMA reported that the depression had developed into a tropical storm with the latter naming it as Danas.[205][209] On October 5, Danas became a severe tropical storm and rapidly became a Category 1 typhoon as it races west towards warm waters.
Late on the same day, some agencies reported that it would reach Category 5 strength because of explosive intensification occurring as more convection wraps the storm. Early on October 6, Typhoon Danas was classified as a Category 2-3 typhoon as a small eye developed as the PAGASA gave it the name Ramil as it passed through the corner of the Philippine area of responsibility later that day as a strong Category 3 typhoon.[210] Typhoon Danas underwent explosive intensification as it steadily and slowly enters warm waters and it became a Category 4 typhoon.[211] Its eye became wider and was classified as an annular typhoon and impacted the Ryukyu Islands on October 7.[212][213] Typhoon Danas then rapidly weakened as it entered cool waters near Japan on October 8,[214] and on October 9, Danas became extratropical as it headed toward the northern part of Japan.[215][216] Its remnants continued to be a low-pressure area and entered southern Alaska and Canada on October 13.[citation needed]

This journal published several important papers, including John Stewart Bell's paper on the EPR paradox.[1] Its being defunct is mentioned in [2] and at [14] and in the article.[3] The American Physical Society hosts an archive of it at https://journals.aps.org/ppf/ however it is pretty hard to learn of it because "physics" is not a very useful search term. Thus a Wikipedia disambiguation page would help scholars and students find the archive. Its also interesting because it was an experiment in paying physicists for their articles, and one of its editors was Nobel Laureate Philip Warren Anderson[4] There is an interview with Anderson describing the birth of the journal at [5]
